Paris, France/2022 … We were not able to get into Notre Dame this visit, due to the fire in April of 2019. But we were able to walk around it to view the numerous photos and updates about the progress of the restoration posted on the perimeter. It seemed fitting to sit at a sidewalk cafe nearby, sip some bubbly, and toast to the magnificent church that will open again in 2024.
The official reopening was December 7, 2024 - the first Mass was on December 8, 2024 (not in time for the Olympics as originally hoped, but still an impressive five year reconstruction and restoration).
